Qantas Daily Service Between Port Moresby and Brisbane
30 September 2016
Qantas has started a daily service between Port Moresby and Brisbane, providing customers improved connections from Papua New Guinea through Queensland’s capital city hub.

The service operates daily, using a refreshed 174 seat B737- 800 aircraft featuring 12 business class seats, upgraded in-flight entertainment, and improved seat comfort.

It replaces Qantas’ previous, turboprop-operated service between Port Moresby and Cairns, and is aimed to maximize customers’ connections to New Zealand, Pacific Islands, and North America.

Qantas Senior Vice President in Asia and Papua New Guinea, Benjamin Tan, said the route provides a great choice of connections for business and leisure travelers.

“The new service between Port Moresby and Brisbane opens up a range of options for all our customers customers.

“For business travellers, the departure and arrival times in Port Moresby make it easy to fly in, take meetings in the afternoon or the next morning, then catch a flight back to Australia later the next day.

“For leisure travellers, flights to Brisbane offer convenient connections across Australia and seamless international transfers, to North America, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands,” said Mr Tan.

“Our refurbished B737 provides over 300 entertainment options and Marc Newson designed Business and Economy seats. We look forward to welcoming more travellers on board to experience Qantas,” added Mr Tan.

Qantas in Papua New Guinea:
Qantas began operating to PNG in the 1940s with two light aircraft stationed in Lae for local operations. Qantas’ four engine DC4 Skymaster began flying the Sydney - Port Moresby – Lae route in 1950. In 1959, Port Moresby was used as a refueling point for Qantas flights to Hong Kong.
